Black People : Black youth dropping out, choice? or white supremacy?

If you want to be real and serious with this, I know I am probably the most concerned about these young people.

The life I live, I am constantly running into young people who are becoming discouraged for the simple fact that no one so much as reads to them. Their guiding figures throw a book at them and place them in front of the TV sets, and don't even work with them to ensure they have a proper under (definitely not over)-standing of what they're being exposed to.

Bottom line is this, because I don't want to dwell on specifics - there are too many children out there who are "trapped," and have little to no way out. For some of us we can get through life despite dropping out of school, dropping out of college, avoiding a GED, but that is not the majority. What happens to the majority (especially brothas) is they drop out, get on the streets, then end up going to and through the system. Next thing you know, they come out wondering saying "I need to go back to school and get my education so I can get a job." This is not the time and day where you can attempt to "beat the system" all by yourself, and think you'll be successful. Yes - a few people are well-capable of it, but what about the majority of folks?

We need solutions that the bulk of us can take, and apply instantly to ensure these young people out here have something to live for. In my personal opinion, I think Education is the way. Even if we/they have to go through the public "fool" system, we need to find a way to make it happen.

Now who is gonna take the necessary steps to ensure these children have a future?

Actually how do we fix the situation affecting Black youth?

I'm all for anything to remedy the situation but what are the marching orders?

All the more reason for us to find a collective solution for economic survival and prosperity

Brothers, I agree and I am ready, when and where do we begin the think tank of resolution that will seriously tackle these issues?

KWABENA,

Brother, your points are well taken and the challenge of who is gonna take the necessary steps to ensure these children have a future, is riveting and separates the wheat from the tares.

Speaking from the wheat perspective, as you well know, some of us here at Destee.com are quite active and serious about education, in fact, Sister Destee has implementated Moodle sofeware in creating our own black school, and is sorta, well, begging for teachers.

Brothers Chat, along with Sister Linda Chavis, is actively pursuing the lauching of after school programs to set up in locally affected communities. And lastly, the GroupThink Project-Group is working on Destee's first homegrown publication, which addresses the question of Racism, the degree to which the reader will have a broad educational understanding of this evil entity. Also, our own Destee.comNews is here seeking the real truth be told to our people, in lieu of the current bias media we face, daily.

There are many other inititives I could name, but let's allow the tare perspective or posters to answer the challenge you place on the table, for now.

Peace In my brother friend, for real.
