And all this time I thought
we were Black, but actually we're transparent
Transparent don't you see? Well actually
the fact that you don't see is apparent.
If a hurricane is heading my way,
    you don't rescue me
    even when the catastrophe
    was common knowledge eons ago
you act like you didn't know
Must be because of my transparency
because anyone that you could see
    screaming, begging, pleading for help...
anyone chained below sea level you would
    absolutely...positively... free
    if you could
    right?
I mean, you wouldn't want my brothers and sisters
to liken themselves to our ancestors... bound
    on the middle passage...painfully confused
hearts weeping and bruised, thousands drowned...
But perhaps those Africans were transparent too.
You see, I'm trying to figure out why so many in New Orleans
weren't saved, and no, it's not common sense that I lack
it's just that I'm trying to figure out why so many needlessly died
cause they assure me, it's not because they were Black...
    Black, transparency

I liked the concept and idea for this and its so true. Its horrible to feel unimportant and transparent i na country where so many of us live, that **** is ****** up. It seems the only way to be seen in this country is to be rich or on tv. But even then if they can, they reduce you to a pet monkey. White people love black entertainers dont they . lol sorry if i sound racist just this **** makes me mad:| well anywayz man very good poem, very well written and i liekd how you presented your point.

i love this read it's how i feel how we all feel, and this is our state of the union
and it's so sad that it came to this but we knew how the felt along, now it's proven before the eyes of the world

No, iwannabe, you don't sound racist, just upset and honest. We're like diamonds yet we're treated like glass. Than you for the props I think you're very talented.
Glad you let me know you felt the impact of my words Rich. Appreciated.
This is one of those times that we hate to be proven right. Thank you much Da street so'ja.

So true in how they see us, as if we're not there. I'm glad we saw each other though and hopefully we'll finally unite. That was a great poem Watzinaname! :rolling:

I felt all of the passion in this, very nice. We helped to build this country but this country refuses to even recognize us...Invisibility, Ralph Ellison was definitely on to something.

    Awesome piece,
It took a lot out of us, did a lot to us, yet, in their eyes...the beat goes on.
this piece was truly felt, not to mention true.

Thank you Wisdom7, and yes, hopefully we will see each other enough to join hands and rally against this madness.
The Invisible Man... a classic indeed. Some things we wish still didn't apply but unfortunately... Thank you Mahoganee.
Thank you queent, yes this blow certainly knocked the wind out of us, but for some it's just smooth sailing as usual. Appreciated sista.
