This was a wonderful thread, and I appreciate the lists of black sitcoms...brought back excellent memories.

But I agree...Tv today is pretty bad. I dont watch much at all.
The reason there are no more solid black shows is because the world is changing......and so are ideas.

scary.

I've seen many but not all of those comedies mentioned in the UK.

Some tend to be more buffoonery than comedy, I cannot think of any 'white' comedy that requires the physical face pulling and general stupidity of say Kenan and Kel, Martin or Wayans Bros. Wil Smith was great on Fresh Prince but did alot of buffoonery on there too, I cringe at some of the reruns watching them now as an adult rather than the child I was back then.

Generally I would say they have gone backward rather than forward and though not perfect I much prefer "Jeffersons" and "Goodtimes" to "girlfriends" or "half and half" and the reason they dont last is TV staions seem to be moving away from sitcoms, as someone already said reality tv rules now, but especially black sitcoms, they seem to prefer white shows with one or few black characters than the all black shows of the past.
