University student from around Gauteng and Limpopo marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria where President Jacob Zuma was meeting the university principal and members of the ANC Youth League to talk about the fees increase. Later the police fired tear gas to despise the student after the President said that the fees should not be increased.
While students have mobilised and generally protested peacefully against the proposed university fee hikes, their movement was marred by acts of violence on Friday at The Union Buildings.
