From what I recall voting in NYC for the past 30 years, and with so many Black politicians in Brooklyn going back to the 70s, I have never heard that term used for Black politicians here. Not saying it does not happen but I have not heard it here!Imagine if he would have had the sense to hold his tongue.. and instead worked that in to his speech on the day of the event.
But I don't think he has the stones for that. that's why he took himself out with an Oped article.
There is nothing surprising about what he said.. those same lines have been said about every black public/private official.. from union presidents to city councilman and school board members to mayors and governors and now the president.
of course there's some truth to it.. but there is such a thing as tact.
