Atleast in my city. I live in a suburb of atlanta. is it the same for other cities around the country? Recently everytime I go out I overhear Black Men referring to themselves as a you know what. and these are not your typical gay men. These men are masculine looking and ordinarily you wouldn't even know that they're gay.

I just recently learned that the whole World has basically been gay since Ancient times but still this is going to take a little bit of time for me to get use too I guess.

I too live in a surburb of Atlanta, and all these gay men coming out the closest is crazy. Some of them are so bold they CB. On top of that, it seems like they got more of the jobs than the straight men. I heard that this used to be more common inside the city, but now it seems to have exploded to the surrounding suburbs. And you're right, a lot of them look ordinary, and some of them even look masculine, and you wouldn't know they were gay.

Atlanta has been sprinkled by fairy dust for a long time.

For the most part, it is hard to find straight men in Atlanta than gay

Atlanta has been Gayville for decades. You're late. Btw, only a small portion of the population is gay. A lot less than 10%

I love the idea of them coming out to the closet. I say we support it wholeheartedly. Men remaining in the closet is problematic for straight women.

That's exactly why I was there for only 3 months back in 2008 and had to go backwards and return to LA. Outside of the workforce center in Decatur are there any employment agencies operating outside of Midtown?

    @ OP

On a serious note: The closet is actually good for a lot of people. They're just safer there, unfortunately.

Sidenote: Can we plan an ATL Destee meetup? :) A few of us here, apparently.

I'm in the suburbs, too (as are most Atlanta area residents). Yes, the prevalence of gay black men is clearly evident in the city, but I must acknowledge that I don't notice it as much in the surrounding suburbs. Perhaps it is a function of where I am most of the time, but in no way is it as observable as in, say, midtown. Atlanta is the black San Francisco for those who are part of that community or identity. However, I'm going out on a limb and declaring that most brothers here are straight.

True, but sometimes they hurt others in the process of keeping themselves safe.

10% is still too much. What causing the attraction of black men to the gay lifestyle. Strangely enough there is no word in any of the African languages for "homosexual". This is a sad commentary.:(
