    In the Spirit of Truth,

Black Lives Matter is right to say climate change is a Race Issue

Friends of the Earth were called racist and all sorts of things yesterday by the keyboard warrior contingent for supporting the Black Lives Matter protest at City Airport. Facts may not be very good at changing people’s minds but we are not yet so deeply into a post-factual society that we shouldn’t at least consider them. Here’s an honest to God, straight up and down fact: We have just witnessed a record-breaking 14 consecutive months of the hottest global temperatures ...

YES, CLIMATE CHANGE DOES KILL PEOPLE OF COLOR MORE

Who are these people who are dying, and who is responsible? It’s the greatest injustice of climate change, that those who are the least responsible for causing the climate crisis, are the first to suffer. The poor, the marginalized, the indigenous communities are on the frontline—and they are overwhelmingly people of color in developing countries. And where it is richer, more developed countries dealing with wildfires, such as those in Australia, the U.S. or the floods in Europe, they invariably have more resources to deal with the impact ...

Doesn't Climate Change involve science and technology on multiple levels?

Engineering the Software for Understanding Climate Change

But if people of color don't know enough science and technology to criticise the physics of 9/11 isn't that racism against ourselves? How can you claim to understand the physics of climate if you can't understand a skyscraper? Is this just taking some White people's word when they don't all agree?

    um

Yes, most definitely, Climate Change involves science/technology on multiple levels, especially the conflation of computer science.

In the question below, more than just people of color are committing racism against themselves, as you say ...

"But if people of color don't know enough science and technology to criticize the physics of 9/11 isn't that racism against ourselves?"

According to the video's presenter, every other people group also, commits racism against themselves.

    To these questions:

"How can you claim to understand the physics of climate if you can't understand a skyscraper?

Is this just taking some White people's word when they don't all agree?"

We cannot understand the physics of climate until society faces the important question pertaining to: "the other part of the system," were impact leads to changes in public opinion ... not ill informed discussion."

No, this isn't just taking the word of some white people, its the word of scientists that have reached agreement on us having taken control of the planet, thus mismanaging and destabilizing the earth's natural system.

All of this now requires a strong sense of urgency, which is to say,
a need for "Software for Global Collective Decision making."

Have you done any computer programming?

I asked because I was wondering what you might mean by conflated.

You see I consider "Computer Science" to be conflated. It makes as much sense as "bicycle science" or "electric drill science". What they call "computer science" is covered by mathematics, electrical engineering and linguistics. But the devices are HUGELY useful in dozens of different fields.

Curiously the whole thing started with mathematical physics. The US Army financed ENIAC to compute ballistics tables for artillary. Eventually the machine could compute a trajectory in less time than it took a fired shell to travel the path. So it is an interesting comparison to simulating climate.

The trouble is that we cannot do repeated tests on the real climate and it would take too much time if it were possible. Also we are dealing with vastly larger amounts of data for the starting conditions and climate is not something man-made like a cannon.

So the question is how useful are the simulations. And what are the consequences of screwing up the only planet we have?

    um

You've demonstrated we both understand the term, conflation.
Do you have an answer to your question, cited above and below?

"... what are the consequences of screwing up the only planet we have?"

But conflation of what? If someone has never don any programming I will question how well they comprehend computers. These White boys have been exaggerating them sine the 1950s. Like we have this endless crap about Artificail Intelligence now. But they are irreplaceable for some applications.

The climate change issue is still unique. I do not expect the predictions to be completely accurate but climate models are the only crystal ball we have.

Personally I expect that we will have food production problems before we get to a population of 9 billion which is what is being projected by 2050.

    https://www.theguardian.com/environ...ming-food-addiction-meat-harvest-hungry-world

We have had record high temperatures every month for thirteen months until July. We are waiting to see if the streak has continued with August.

So global starvation beond 2050 would not surprise me.

Thank you for answering and thank you for your honesty. As far as 2050 is concerned, all hell is breaking loose, it appears ...
