Very thought provoking and sad comments.
Although Mr. Sotomayor made some very valid points, he also has an history for bashing Black women and Black people as an whole...but mainly Black women. I'm quite surprised at his commentary in this video because it was quite lite compared to many others. He has a knack for mixing truth with demeaning insults in regards to Black women.
But i digress.
It's very sad news to hear how this women has died. And if drugs were involve and there isn't some type of procedure to regulate the use of steroids in this sport... they do need to step it up. Many unreported body-builders die because of the stress they put on the heart and body...women and men alike. They are doing what they love...but i do wish them to be more careful and know when to slow it down.
My condolences go out to her family!
Hey Sis PurpleMoons,
I'm so glad you shared your thoughts about Sotomayor. I wasn't familiar with him until I saw this video about the Black woman body builder. Then, I went back and watched another one and . . . well . . . let's hear it in his own words . . .
"Texas Pastor Bans Hair Hats (Weaves) In His Church . . . "
Wow, he actually said he doesn't trust Black men!! Really? And, I mean, I don't have a problem that he prefers Black women who are natural, but do you have to demean those sisters who choose to wear weaves?
What is going on in the world today?
the devil is about spreading evil…….
I agree, I'm use to him bashing sistas.
FWIW - that is something we should NOT get used to…...
Sister....even that was lite commentary from him. I don't think he even likes Black Women other than to laydown with them. He even tells a half truth about how Black women are mad at him because he says they look more beautiful with natural hair.
Oh no no no no....Most of the Black Women are mad at him because of his degrading stance he take against them. And some Black Men too have had it with him because of it.
He may be trying tone his commentary down now. I dunno...But if he is...kudos for him.
I believe that the body image in female body building is distorted. There is nothing feminine to this sport and women end up looking like ripped men in bikinis. I don't understand why women want to morph into sterile looking creatures such as this. I just don't get it. Beyond the fact that most take steroids to have the build of a man and the consequences are all too apparent.
Personally, I don't care for the look of either men or women body builders, especially not when they look as though they are about to explode when they are fully flexing their muscles.
I don't know why some call this a "sport" either because it's not something that I would define as such. But that's just me. Apparently it appeals to many people, regardless of their race or gender, and those people who like it will go to great lengths, putting their lives at risk to participate in it.
But, in the end, I guess it's like most things that people are attracted to. Who really knows, but them, why they are drawn to doing this to themselves.
It's sad though that this woman died doing something that she obviously took seriously and, I assume, enjoyed doing.
Did anyone hear about this as well?....Today in the news...Lee Thompson Young committed suicide..
