BLACK FAMILY

Love has a soul
Called black mothers
Who give much and take little
Even when much ain’t much at all

Love has a face
Called black sisters and brothers
When you need nothing
But someone to hold

Love has a heart
called black fathers
Who put your dreams on a pedestal
And pick you up when you fall
And kiss you until
You want to love again

Love has a name called black family
Who hold each other close
‘Cause that’s all they’ve got
And that’s all they need
To be happy.
