Black Sports : BLACK BASEBALL DOT COM

Let us remember Jackie did not break the color barrier on his own.

Let us remember those great players before him. Showing that Negro's could play the game. Not only physically, but with the mental talent to play the game as well.

Jackie did not just step up and break the barrier. He was chosen, not only for his skills but for his disipline and attidude. Because of his talent, and discipline, he really did help to usher in a new error.

And there were still those that came after him that made us invaluable to the major league.

Let us not forget Hank Arron, he was not first, but he had to show the same if not more discipline because he played on a white team in the south. I would be hard pressed to think of what he had to go through, in the south. Not able to eat, or maybe sleep in the same places as the rest of the team. Taking back entrances, etc.
