OK.. the first thing that popped in my head when I saw this pictures was this:

"white folks says I's good!"

Now, that was completely involuntary.. and immediate. In fact, I listened to it
like it wasn't me that said it. If I were to unravel that compressed thought, it
would be something like, "why make a big deal about white approval".. or something like,
"if it's good, it's good, f*** the oscars." .. or "Are black actors selling their
souls for gold and white approval
?".. that's what I would say, but what I said
was, "white folks says I's good." I've been doing some writing around
reclaiming our forms of Art.. I think that perspective is where my criticism of
this came from.

what do you all think about black artists and white-controlled systems of
approval?

Peace.

white supremacy is most expressed in the area of esthetics

i am a fine art photographer.

those few blacks who gain acceptance in fine art photography are entirely co opted. it is the only road in.
imagery is taken very seriously by white supremacists. positive black imagery is poison to them.
anything that does not reflect eurocentric esthetics is automatically suppressed.

blacks everywhere are faced with the dilemma.
the only way in is to be non threatening to white people.
white people control the money. black people will not spend on images.
we do not value images the way we do music. we leave the control of images in the hands of whites.

bad mistake.

In all due candor and honesty:

Nothing new or news about the sort of compromises blacks who choose to work in and for them white hollywood moguls resort to...

In the case of Denzil Washington:

At least he tries to make a difference!

In the case of those other two:

Everybody knows and understands the issues and problems the second has had to cope and deal with...

As regards the second:

He's just in it for the money!

His Obama parody piece kinda sorta reveals his 'poltiics' too...

LOL...
