Hello to all my wonderful Brothas and Sistas!
My name is Jaishi and I am a professional artist and poet. About 3 months ago I decided to cut off all my relaxed hair and wear it as it was given to me. Kinky, Nappy and Beautiful!
Since doing this I have felt more free, more natural, and more real. My only regret was not doing this a long time ago.
Anyways, making the "napptural" journal has started to reflect in my art. I have received a lot of negative feed back from folks who say I should focus on painting flowers and portraits. I've been told that my napptural paintings will not be successful because nobody wants a painting of someone with nappy hair. WTF? WELL being the rebelious person I am, I've decided that is what I'm many going to focus on. Creating beautiful works of arts that depict everyday live. Being natural and real and spiritual. We have plenty of art showcasing roses, lilies, etc. (As I'm writing this I'm getting upset thinking about those negative comments, so forgive me if my sentences are incoherent, lol)
I have placed my first spiritual and napptural painting on eBay. I'm writing because I would like you to take a look at my painting and tell me what you think. I'm not looking for a sympathy bid. I would just like the counter to reflect folks interest. Showing the nay sayers that folks are interested in black art. The name of the painting is "Rejoice". It was created with so much love and passion and I consider it an honor to be able to share it with you.
