I've awakened to go on my periodic ego-stroking here on Destee again.

This time I will start with Black Republicans.

For all my Black Republican folks here on Destee... what exactly drew you to the GOP?

What values inherent in Republicanism or conservatism attract or appeal to you?

I hate that 'conservative has come to be nearly synonymous with 'repub.' They aren't really the same thing.

I use to consider my as a 'democrat with conservative tendencies' especially on issues of homosexuality, but would never consider myself a repub.

Ideally, the repubs were set up to take care of small business, business, and corps.

The dems were set up to take care of the common people, which included the middle class, poor class, and working class.

They were suppose to be working together, not going against each other. Now what we have is a mockery and one of power hungry controlling zealots who just wanna win by any cost necissary.

In it's pure form, I can understand why blacks are attracted to the GOP. No problem with that really.

But nothing is ever ideal and in a 'pure' form and you cant think of GOP without thinking 'racist' and anyone black that is in the 'GOP' or support the GOP is an uncle tom. Only one famous black has challenged that notion of black repub DOESN'T equal uncle tom conservative, and thats Colin Powell. And that was only after he left the Bush Admin. Found a bit of newfound respect for him. He did well as secretary of state and had far more diplomacy than any one thus far... which so far has only been Condi.

Condi might have been a good SOS, but she looked liked a puppet for Cowboy Bush and that made her appeal lacking.

Beyond Petroleum use to be Amoco which I heard was based and mined in South Africa.

So I guess British Petrol and Beyond Petrol are the same folks or sister companies or subsidiaries.

I'm surprise I was that close. I thought it was somebody's name on the board yall had shortened.

Is this a reference to the recent bailout of Wall Street firms?

Capitalizing on profits and socializing debts have been going
on long before the recent bailouts of wall street firms.
