    I have never used bitcoins.

I see it around, the option to use it.

I think I signed up somewhere for it, to be registered or what have you.

Given my limited experience / knowledge of regular currency, it seems odd I'd venture off into even more unknown territories.

    I'm a bit apprehensive.

    How about you?

The tin foil hat crowd says Bitcoins is believed to be the first step to the NWO International Banking Systems cashless society. Personally I just don't have faith in financial transactions subject to a brute force computer hack or fall victim to a global cyber attack from only 4 other countries besides America that have the capability. Russia, China, Israel and North Korea. Also savvy consumers refuse to transact business when there is no gold standard to back the value of the cyber currency in the event of a shortfall or worst a complete default. Sorta like the crash in the pork bellies commodity options market. Can't call in a loan that theoretically never had any tangible value in the first place.

Bit coins are based solely on trust. There is no gold backing the currency. Thus, it's worth what someone says it is today

This is false actually. All of the major world currencies are fiat, and not backed by any precious metals except for one. Fiat meaing the currency is backed by the government who issued it. So the dollar is only legal tender because the US says it is legal tender, the same with every other nation's currency but one. Lebanon is the only nation that has its currency still tied to a gold standard.

To note, the US has been off the gold standard since 1971.

Glad you were able to give the correct answer to the question that I posed, hopefully others will soon learn that a search engine could be their friend if only they would use one. The issue though is that the central banks of most countries is controlled by the Rothchilds.
