Alex stopped to help save a gunshot victim from bleeding out, he was then given Saint Paul Police Chiefs Award for Valor. He then gave this small speech.
Now we need the FOI to protect him
That was a very interesting speak and we need more of us following in like manner. A very important lesson just taught and one to understand. He stated, 18 police cars went by not to help the wounded and potentially save a life. This shows what the police think about human life. It made me immediately reflect on a book that we all need to read and study, "Call 911 or Die". It was a case where the families of an abducted women was kidnapped and raped. The family called 911 and they did not respond with the importance of the situation. When the family sued the police and the suit went to trial. the police chief/Capt. said on the court record, "The police are not here for your individual concerns." The police are here to protect property. As the gentlemen said we understand the concern of the situation, a person with a gun. But the key is not one cop car stop to render help to save a life. You do not need 18 squad cars to respond to a scene of a potential person with a gun. This is a common situation. The whole precinct responding to the scene of something happen, and we know it depends on the situation but even in small situation this conduct happens.
Training classes need to be set up in the local communities to train and help ourselves.
Long gone in most cases the days of block associations and neighborhood watch groups, these types of structures need to be brought back into the communities.
If not these kind of situation and brutalities we keep talking complaining about will continue.
Just my little input in my short travel on this planet, doing my part to bring resolve to ourselves. I know there are others out there attempting the same thing but we need all hands on deck.
I will leave it here for you to ponder over these things for the potential outcome.
Greetings,Hi @Sharrieff-Desert Walker ... I googled the book "Call 911 or Die" ... but what came up was ... "Call 911 and Die" ... suggesting, if you want to die, call 911 ... written by Richard W. Stevens which google does not have much on. Is the book written by a black person? The cover of the book has a white lady on it.
Why do you recommend it, what does it suggest we do, arm ourselves, vote, march?
Historically, the police have not wanted the best for us.
Thanks for sharing!
