Posted on: 09/28/2006
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Racist remarks will cost a Spokane business thousands of dollars.
Antwon Ross filed a complaint against Mister Carwash last year, claiming other employees used racial slurs and made offensive comments to him while he worked at the downtown Spokane location.
This week, a Spokane Superior Court judge agreed with his complaint and ordered the national chain to pay him $114,000. Area manager of Mister Carwash, Robert Raskell, tells KREM 2 News his organization is fully committed to equal opportunity and employment, as well as acting in compliance with all laws. Mister Carwash has less than 30 days to appeal the verdict.
