we been sitting on this phone for
three hours now trying to figure
    out what went wrong
what forked road did we follow
    down the wrong path
    how "what we have" became
    "what we had"
past tense to a present tense
    of absence for one another
before i let you go can i say
    thank you for the
walks in the park as the leaves found
    a new season /
    the promenades under the moonlight
    interlocking our eyesight
    to see our tomorrows
    which became our yesterdays....
    and yesterday seemed so sweet

and thank you for the shoulder
you let me cry on as my tears
ran down to the small of your back
"my oasis of pain" you called it
thank you for diving in with me
and thank you for your smile that
blessed the sky even when the
sun did not feel well and.......refused
to come out to play....you were my everything
and how did we become past tense?

and why do we now cry on this phone
after not finding the answer to the absence
we felt while in each other's arms
    just the other night...not knowing
    is painful isn't it?

so before i let you go and
let the click be the period to what we thought
was a lifelong sentence to another

let me say "I'll love you always"
    not knowing
    is painful isn't it?
and the oasis has dried up
    I can't cry anymore
    goodbye.

    These words

    tug at the heart strings....
sharing your pain with beauty and honesty..
the one thing that really stood out in this piece for me, was your ability to focus on all the positives, the good things, the precious memories, not letting the negatives get in the way..
