    Blood is shed
On the tip of every edge
    The lost ones pledge allegiance
    To grievance and
Threats have no pattern, no sequence
    Death is frequent
    Innocence can have
    The same death sentence
When they are unsuspected and unprotected
Never knowing when they’ll be selected
    By that bullet
That’s way too fast to be detected
But this is home to many
    A reality hardly perfected
A reality where the country neglects it
A reality where the community rots
    With plots of gun shots
That’s too out of control to stop
    Body bags are dragged
    Mournful hearts are stabbed
    No rags to riches
    Only rags to more rags
White outlines of those with no more time
    Lay across the dry tar
With this same, drained, game of death-tag
That was played in drive-by cars
But this is home to many African Americans
    Hint the word: Americans
This is home to a part of society
Who wants to believe in the land of the free
    But since they’re overlooked
The political crooks see this as an
    Unstoppable conspiracy while
    They live in their mansions
    Swimming in money’s expansions
Giving no attempt to have solution spent
    Only remaining exempt
    From the duties
    People thought they meant
    So much green is spent
    But money never really began
    In this brand of land
    Where the days are limited
    Where souls are rented
And where lives are soon permanently evicted
    Good citizens who want out
    Are too restricted
Because no one is there to fix it
    Fix the enlisted
    Joining more street mixes
    Stop what has existed in
Wrongful death, where murderers wished it
How can the water of freedom convert
When people are so used to the thirst
Of living in such a large desert
    Young boys are wind-up toys
Who become trainees in street activities
    Born into gang abilities
Learning that this is their reality, their temporary eternity
The way it’s sadly, unfortunately supposed to be
    The only reason for living
Is to obtain the power in fast cash, getting rich quick
Spit dice, sexually entice, suffice for whatever image is nice
    Kids tricked by various cliques
    Who promises them
They know how to fix it
The kids see no point to resist it
Since no help comes from morals or politics
    Why not assist it
    When everything else is useless
And education, they see is bull****
Ignorance, they’ve become so full of it
    Hearts harden like heavy bricks
Doing as much as they can
    Because seconds always tick
Their sick pride sets off in quick time
Seeing themselves as the alpha males
Hating those who oppose and try to be mimics
    This chaos spreads like genetics
    Violent division determined by colors
While struggles still starve the worrying mothers
Devoting their all into nightly prayers
    And the fathers are…well
    They’re just not there
    This is home for many
    This is home for plenty
    Politicians with their empty decisions
    Promises an antidote
Swearing to reverse our downward slope
But that’s only for you to surrender your vote
Try to elect and see what you get
    They’ll intrigue with the thought
Of providing you with what you need
    A tease, a universal sneeze
Blowing out the seeds of what we all need
Then will expect you to forget
That’s why many fall, planning to forfeit
    Gunshots are like thrown rocks
    Popular like bomb pops
The population gets reduced and they’re use to this demented hell
    The streets decorate
With the pretty strands of police tape
Reading “Do Not Cross” or in other words,
    “Another Soul Was Lost”
Young prostitutes, live in this dysfunctional pursuit
    Domesticating their corners
    Inviting any stranger and foreigner
    She’s made for getting paid
For the desperate to get laid
Obeyed to whoever invades her torn, girlish figure
And the streets are made for shelter
But the cold still rolls right through her
Freezing her skin, yet she doesn’t give in
Just blending in with the fact of no solution
    No help, no contribution
    She’s judged by her exterior
    So men can spend time
    Interrupting into her interior
What kind of home is this?
That’s been so disregarded as it’s still bombarded
    Home shouldn’t be a place
    Where one is alone
Home, there should be no place like it
Forcing the dwellers to live in mental cellars
    Becoming used to its mist
These are human beings, not misfits
    Living proof that America
    Has more improving to do
But the system contains so much verbal voodoo
Lacking the care for these bare issues
Money and power are their only lust
Loving to blow away Americans’ trust
    I’m grateful that we’re free
But I don’t believe entirely in the land of the free
But I do still believe out of all this rust and dust
    That in God
We all have no choice but to trust

Thanks Rich, I'm so glad that people see my poetry as something outstanding than something not worth reading.
