Babylonian Hoes
From Herodotus Book 1:199
I believe this is where John in the book of revelation got his information on the Whore from Babylon.
Herodotus reports at about 450 BC:
“There is one custom amongst Babylonian people which is wholly shameful: every woman who is a native of the country must once in her life go and sit in the temple of Aphrodite and there give herself to a strange man. Many of the rich women, who are too proud to mix with the rest, drive to the temple in covered carriages with a whole host of servants following behind, and there wait; most, however, sit in the precinct of the temple with a band of plaited string round their heads-and a great crowd they are…Once a woman has taken her seat she is not allowed to go home until a man has thrown a silver coin into her lap and taken her outside to lie with her…the woman has no privilege of choice-she must go with the first man who throws her the money…Tall handsome women soon manage to get home again, but the ugly ones stay a long time before they can fulfill the condition which the law demands, some of them, indeed, as much as three or four years. There is a custom similar to this in parts of Cyprus”.
In the Bible it stated “Fallen is Babylon the Great, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries” Rev 14:8. This is an historical statement against Babylon because they held Jewish people in slavery until King Cyrus freed them in 539 BC and allowed them to return to Jerusalem. Now if Babylon was religiously tolerant we probably wouldn’t of heard these attacks. Cyrus worshiped fire as god and Zeus. Rev: 13:13 made acknowledgement of Zeus/Amon “And he performed great miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth”. Unfortunately God had this same power too see Rev 20:9. The bible made very good comments on Cyrus (Isaiah 45:1) despite him offering sacrifice to Zeus just before he was killed in battle. But because he did do good deeds he was saved from being demonized. I’m beginning to see some of the political writings in our Holy books.
Genesis and Exodus were written by the Hebrew priestly class, the Levites, after they were taken to Babylon from around 586 BC. Babylon was in the former lands of summer and so the Babylonians, and therefore the Levites, knew the Sumerian stories and accounts. It was from these records overwhelmingly, that the Levites compiled Genesis and Exodus. The source is obvious. The Sumerian tablets speak of E. DIN (The Abode of the Righteous Ones). This connects with the Sumerian name for their gods, DIN.GIR (the righteous ones of the rockets). So the Sumerians spoke of Edin and Genesis speaks of the Garden of Eden. They also speak of King Sargon (722BC) the Elder being found as a baby floating in a basket on the river and brought up by a royal family. Exodus speaks of Moses being found in a basket in a river and brought up by the Egyptian royal family. This is a perfect example of religious recycling. So it appears that the same Babylonian Hoes Revelations called whores were the same people they took some of their writings from in earlier periods of time.
