    Must take out the trash
But when I open my door
All I see is piles and piles
    Of junk strewn all over
My front lawn and all the
while my little red truck is
    falling apart, my sister-in-law
    keeps coming by while Rollo
tryin to hustle and the Police
is as crooked as they Can be
(notice the brotha is Cool while
the white cop tries to speak the
    language wantin’ to be down)
Betta get out of this neighborhood
    before it gets dark…
    Now where’s that dummy at?

    must take out the trash....

16 stories high in a building
designed to pack us in like
sardines for they think if we
have a place of our own then
they would have to pay us
our 40 acres and a mule and
yet even in this level of height
we can look down through the
fence the see the police arrive
at the same time the screams
    from a minute before have
    reached our hearing and they
    call this Good Times?

    must take out the trash...

Well now I’m moving on up
To the east side to a dee-luxe
Apartment in the sky but they
Don’t realize that what is thought
Of as prestigious in living on
The 16th floor is only considered
    Such by the address on the front;
Did they move up or over? New
    Address, same perceptions so who
The fool when they strive to be
    As successful as Mr. Bentley?

    must take out the trash...

    What’s happening? Reminiscing
About the life of our youth trying
To make a betta place..the closest
Thing to not living in a ghetto cuz
Now they are chillin in a soda shop
Like Richie, Potsy and the Fonz but
You don’t see the white washed style
Of humor that keep Rerun dancing
Around on the Gong Show trying to
Make a better way for himself and little
Did we realize that here was the original
“latch key kids” portrayed on tv cuz momma
was working two jobs to make ends meet.
Single parent homes have arrived in the media.

    must take out the trash...

    Thirty years later, Black Entertainment
Television that was stuck on reruns
Of Black shows that most found
Confusing Covered over by sex driven,
crime ridden Videos that even those of
the 70’s would Find to de degrading, has
been sold to the Highest bidder or the
highest Negro ridder Who plans to turn
this proud landmark Into a Clorox cleaned
    carbon copied MTV Or Massa TeleVison;

and now Jagged Edge will be replaced with
Nsync, Blackstreet by Backstreet Boys, Mya
By Brittany, Envogue by Dream, and so on
and so on and so on…

I wonder what I shall see when I click
On my remote of reality to a channel
    Of deeper consiousness…

To be continued next season but first...

i must take out the trash....

    Nice

Very...very...nice. I'm digging this. This I believe we're on the same page because i was thinking the same thing. But it our society it seems like everything is based on dollars and cents. and other people's views of ourselves. What a weary world we live in....
