somewhere in Ohio.
Occupation
doin' me- full time.
she led them out the door holding her hands
one six, one eight, and the infant in her arms
they wiped away the sleep that crowded their eyes
and climbed obediently into the car.

she pushed in a disney tape, and the 6 year old sang along
the 8 year old sat quietly half asleep, wondering what was wrong
the infant wakened crankily and then began to whine
she looked back at the 8 year old, said,
'Give your sister a bottle, just this one more time.'
he placed it to the infant's lips, the ride became quiet once more
the 6 year old dozed off again, and his blankie slid onto the floor

she pulled up to the sandy beach, and told them to exit the car
then she picked up her cell, dialed, said,
'I cant tell you where we are.'
picking up the baby first, she told the other two to wait
and she dissolved into moonlight, walking to the water's break
the two boys stood quietly, hand in hand, groggy and confused
then she returned and looked to the 6 year old
'Now I am taking you.'
the 8 year old left alone, his will struggled to keep open his eyes
then he climbed back into the car and slept, awaiting the sunrise

she knocks on his window not long later, roused him from dreams
'Keonte', she murmurs softly, 'it's your turn to come with me.'
they walk down in the stagnat air, he asks,
'Mama, you takin' us swimmin' in the park?'
she gazes down at her son and says,
'We been swimmin so long in the dark.'
the icy midnight closed around them he sees something in her eye
a childish panic engulfs him; his Mama is going to cry
'Mama, whats wrong?' he cries. 'Where my sister and brother go?'
she points to the stars and replies quietly,
'To the most beautiful place I know.'
he looks where her brown finger arched, unsure what to expect
and feels her warm maternal hands slide down around his neck...

she cradles him, then lowers him delicately into the sea
drops to her knees and wails in terror,
'GOD, please forgive me!'
she takes one final breath,
says one last prayer,
takes one last look at the sky
then wanders down into the shore, murmuring her final goodbye.

the family traces her car, then find it parked at the lake
they call out for her, they call out for the children--
but they know they must be too late.
suddenly a liitle cry erupts, then a banshees scream it turns
the 8 year old, huddled and weeping, shaking as his grief burns
his wet shiver increases as he gazes out to the wintery sea
'Mama took us swimming,' he moans to them,
'but i couldnt save nobody but me.'

I am aware that this may disturb some, but this is a true story. And every time I turn on the news, all I see is people angry, people indignant, people judging a woman they never knew. She was in pain, and we did not see it until it was too late. What she did was not out of hate, but because, in her state of mind, she thought she was saving us a burden.
KINETTA LOCKHEAD WAS LOVED, AND IS LOVED STILL, NO MATTER WHAT SHE DID!
And if there is anyone in your life who means anything to you, let them know it, always. Remember; Time is faster than you, it can run by before you even realize it was there.
Kinetta, Keonte, K,J, and Kineesha, we realize you were here.
Too d*** late.
peace--MsDy
