    Ask Me Who I Am
    My African spirit
    Combines with my American mind
Hear it in a Jembe Hip Hop drum Beat
See it the rhythm dance, walk, and swag in my feet
Hear it in my huemanistic dialectic speech
Find it in the charted stars
Count on it from arithmetic and systematics
    Created from the Motherland
Birthed new and improving evolution huemans
    Survivors of slavery plantations
    And Civil Rights Demonstrations
    And still homicidal prosecutions
    From hanging on cypress trees
    To BART platform atrocities
There is no reason to fear me
    But some do…
    I push through with Blackness
    As Black as the strap
    On Nat Turners Boots
    Push through the bush strong
As a Harriet Tubman Freedom Song
    Will not be moved
No more than a Rosa Parks
    Like Martin Luther King
    Peace Be my name
    But I ain’t ashamed
    To let justice reign
In the fame of Marcus Garvey
    Or Malcolm X
    I ain’t Black enough yet…
Because how beautiful it is to be
    The Blackened me
Speak truths of Booker T’s and Fredrick Douglas
    And Ida B Wells
    Tells my history
    Freedom Papers Documentaries
Of refining the African American Thought
Debating to be or not to be
Less like them or more like me
    Or the contrary
Your heart might not feel me
Be Heart Surgery would not be
    Without me
    So basically you are
    Because I am
    Father God
    And your ancestral Motherland
As black and beautiful as a panther
    My fist in the air

Who dare you not to include me
    Or at least let me
    Provide for my own community
The way God created it to be
I plant seeds of a powerful people
    The grandest church steeple
    Is not higher
Than the spirit in my gospel word
Can be heard in the reverb
    Of Jazz
    Rhythm and Blues
    I groove this
    Sing this
    Bring this
    Hip Hop
But there it does not stop
    I got this
    Educate this
    Write this
    I invented this
    Rap This
    Recreated
    Back Hand This
Swish and Hole In One This
    Full court press this
    On any field
    I Caucus This
    I Congress this
    I Judge this
    Yep-I Rep This
And THIS is just a partial list…
    I run this
And as your Commander & Chief
    I got this nation
    Spread in Blackness
    My African spirit
    Combines with my American mind
    Finds me still
Birthing new and improving evolution huemans
    My constitution of Revolution
    Don’t/Won’t/Can’t Ain’t stopping…
From generation to generation to generation…
    Without any hesitation
    Ask Me Who I am…
I stand with my head held high
    African American am I.
