I'm really diggin the whole retro movement going on in R&B right now.. including what Raphael Saadiq and R.kelly are doing.. It's refreshing to see those artists that show their connection to the past. The things they produce feel thicker.. more resonant. When I heard this song, I immediately had the feeling of Stevie Wonder's "I Wish". I like that he did a family version too.. I like the "forget you" one.. because it falls right in with the nostalgia of recalling childhood. That's what we used to say.. and just like that. This whole thing has so many elements of R&B history rolled up in it..
