    The window towered me as I
    stood between the rows of
    long cushioned seats staring
    quietly at the darkened runway;

    I lift my head to see the arrival
    time and my peace is visited by
    anticipation to see the screen
    Flight 732 arrival time 10:17;

    I check my watch; 10:14, just a
    few minutes more as I close my
    eyes to think about the first
    time I saw her in my dreams;

    I smiled when I ventured back
    To the day we walked hand in
    Hand along the harbor watching
    The ships coming in to dock;

    I exhaled when I felt her head
    Resting gently on my chest as
    we sat before the fireplace on
    a cold, wintry Christmas Eve;

    i rest my brow upon the glass
    and lift my right hand to lay
    it on the window when i see
    the plane arriving at the gate;

    I felt my heart lose a beat
    into a pool of nervous joy
    when i smiled and the lights
    leave my reflection in the glass;

    I straighten my close making
    Sure all the wrinkles are gone
    and try to look as though I’ve
    been here so many times before;

    I watch as all the passengers arrive
    Being greeted by family and friends
    Hugs and kisses, screams of joy
    Filled with tears of reconciliation;

    I move towards the entrance looking
    Down the walkway once full of tired
    Hungry passengers now emptied and
    I stand alone as the other head home;

    I struggle with the nervous as my
    Heart battles with my mind trying to
    Figure out what I shall do when she
    walks the last few steps towards me;

    I see her walking towards me with
    bag in tow and conversing with her
    Friends about the journey on which
    They have just encountered;

    for a moment my thoughts turned
    to her walking down an aisle of
    wooden pews as the music played
    and our families stood in awe;

    i saw her veil covered smile as
    she looked at me when her placed
    her hand into mine and i thought
    how blessed my life is with her;

    i smile when she looks up surprised
    to see me, anxiously awaiting her and
    she smiles when she sees the joy upon
    my face and the roses in my hand;

    she drops her bag as I embrace
    her tightly then she lays her
    head in my chest and exhales
    deeply to ask, "Did you miss me?"

    she looks up to me to see a tear
    escaping my inner peace revealing
    the reason why i answered her with
    words found deep within me…

    I do…
