    Peace and Blessings Family,

It's been said some or one might be afraid of speaking their mind.

I don't see lots of evidence of that, but it could be true ... so i thot i'd ask ... :)

Are you afraid of speaking your mind ... anywhere ... but specifically and especially here?

    Thanks in advance.

    Love You!

I'm afraid sometimes, Destee. I've held back many times. It's not anybody's fault; instead, it's just how this place flows for me. Sometimes I hold back for the sake of keeping the peace in here. I'll occasionally type out something sarcastic or angry when I come across a post or vid that'll tee me off (just on GP) :krazee: but then I'll stop myself from posting:zipit: because someone else here happens to pick up on what bothers me, and they competently handle it before I try a response. Don't need me to add on, so I'll hit the LIKE link and keep it moving...

From the start, there have been some topics that I decided not to introduce here in Destee (because doing so would involve alot of work for me)--maybe even teaching from me--and so I'm reluctant to do it (includes alot of very, very dry academic material). Though these subjects might hold a fascination for me, I doubt they would interest anybody else, so...

In exercising prudence(?) I don't post on some things unless someone else opens the doors to the topic.

    One Love, and PEACE

Sometimes. Some people are plain hostile, bitter, manipulative or on the war path. It doesn't make for good conversation. Or more to the point, as they want, you hold your tongue as you're just not into that game.

Sometimes a conversation becomes a war zone rife with ad hominems; or worse a virtual lynching where someone expresses herself then a whole slew of people gather around to hang them from the sky.

Maybe "Understanding Training" is in order. Or at least good manners.

    Maybe

I am not afraid of speaking my mind, but when I see that the situation is going to become very contentious I usually back off. Not that it changes my position on the issue, but I believe that at times for the the peace of the community it might be better not to respond...sometimes there are folks that insult instead of commenting on the issue, they try to hit below the belt.... Then there are those who just love to argue, disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing without adding anything meaningful to the discussion.

I'm scared to speak my mind often. You just never know whose going to be the next one to twist your words around to make it seem like u said somethin that u actually didn't.

Not afraid but often apprehensive. I'm a historian and there are some here who have a tendency to criticize or go off topic and sometimes it's difficult for me not to respond so i disengage, even though it might be a discussion that I initiated.

These days, I like listening (reading) more than speaking (writing).

I'm very impressed with and follow some of the people here who are sharing information that I find fascinating at this stage in my life. So when I'm in learning mode, as I am now, I tend to be more quiet.

I don't always agree with some of the opinions shared here but I'm not afraid to share what I think either.

When discussions veer off topic, my tendency these days is to leave and find something else that interests me.

If I don't have much to contribute to a discussion or add something that hasn't already been said, I won't contribute but I will "like" whoever said something that I agree with.
