    Peace and Blessings Family,

When I see these threads about what the government or someone else should be doing for us ... i cringe.

That only makes a person more dependent, not less dependent.

On one hand some talk about the low down ugliness of the government, while on the other hand they're saying it's that same government's responsibility to insure our survival.

Can we have it both ways? Can we expect anyone to provide free fish for us, at any time of our lives?!

Can we be moving toward independence, self-sufficiency, etc., while begging for fish?

It's way past time for us to learn how to fish ... whatever it takes ... we need our own and nobody's going to give it to us.

Fish My People ... Fish! ... :fishing:

Don't wait for someone to give it to you ... for i fear ... you'll be waiting until your body turns to dust.

Many have been taught to fish. They didn't teach future generations

James how do you propose that the residents of Detroit get the water from the lake into their homes? according to the articles they are not paying for the service with would include making sure the water arriving at their homes is potable, IE not straight from the lake.
Here on the island most people use bottled water for drinking, and what comes out of the tap to wash clothes etc, but not for drinking.
Ensuring a safe drinking water supply takes a lot of infrastructure, that needs to be maintained which costs money.

First off, blacks AND whites in Detroit (if you say blacks, PROVE it!) are not "begging" for anything from the government. Organizations have noted the distress of "some" and have taken their parts.... unasked. And when 60% of those whose water was shut off can pay those bills within 24 HOURS, then another 20% or so of those whose water was shut off can pay those bills within 48 HOURS, it's "some" NOT black or any other people who truly "can't" pay their bills. Please, stop fakin'!

Secondly, black people are neither a free and self-determining people nor do we live within a separate nation within the U.S.. Who among us DECIDES where the water our people drink comes from? Or how it gets into our houses? Or if it's even pumped into our houses? :10500: That's what people who are free and determine their OWN destinies do.

Like every other race, we pay, we are TAXED to live in the U.S., under the protection of the U.S. government. Anything we ask for from the government that runs on our share of the tax dollar is NOT begging. When the billionaire, Ted Turner, "asks" for a million dollar subsidy (from OUR tax dollars) to NOT grow food on his humungous farms, no one says he, or any of his billionaire cronies NOT growing food, i.e., non-productive and getting subsidies (i.e., welfare), are "begging." We must reject the disparaging labels others put on our demands for equal care and justice for our equal tax dollars. No one is "begging."

According to the article voting out the republicans is not going have much of an effect. Detroit has its first republican mayor since 1962. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mayors_of_Detroit
