    ARE WE a people
    Ignorant of our means
    ASHAMED OF OUR ANCESTRY
    Our…500 year journey
    To here

    Do you fear
    Yesterday’s SLAVERY dayz
    Still EXISTS

    DO YOU HATE
    What others say
    ‘bout YOUR WIDE HIPS
    …YOUR desirably, delicious LIPS

Do you have a problem with
    YOUR THICK THIGHS

    Are you ashamed that YOUR
    BROWN EYES aren’t blue
    And YOUR rich, EBONY HUE
    Do you despise that, too

    ARE YOU a product of
    A SLAVE’s mentality
    Trapped in a
    Reality
    That no longer exists
    …HELD CAPTIVE
    BY FEAR AND racial
    PREJUDICE

Do you rally behind massah’s say so

    Do you know…
    Are we AN IGNORANT PEOPLE

    BALLER

Your poem speaks of women, and the added burden they suffer. You wrote what I have always known to be true. There is a " Big Muddy " cloud over black americans. One that won't allow us to see beyond our nose. Keeping us just behind the curtain. Not only do Black women suffer from racism, they are held also to the unequal parity of treatment, respect, pay, and recoginition.
As black men we need to recognize the strenth of our women. How they are the future, and backbone of a nation. Respect that. As black men we also need to know we are the threat, and the solution to change. I glad I was introduced to this board. Hodee is feeling inspired.

    flow on baller,

i am not ashame of who i am,
because i know who I Am...,,,
and the ones who don't know are ignorant...
until we preach it.... teach it ..
it is the slavery trapped in the mind
    that feed the IGNORANT.
    Peace

    baller...

very good question!!!... i say masses of us are ignorant... that's why it's important that true knowledge drops from the pen... that's part of where the revolution begans... i love this flow... :)

HODEE...my poem speaks of Blak People--men and women. it is a common misconception that men are comfortable with all their attributes...NOT TRUE. Michael Jackson, case in point. although his is an extreme case, there are many who would like lighter skin tones...narrower noses...thinner lips...there are even men who worry about their derriere being too large. NO...it's not just about women.

NADIA*BINTA...the revolution has begun. i'll see you at the head of the heap.:) THANK YOU.

Bluewater...knowledge of self is key. love of self is paramount. let us teach the WORD.

khasm...let us evoke thought...that they may ask what need to be asked.

    THANKS FOR READING.

    peace&manyblessings
