It seems like Video Slots are robbing people, especially minorities. The residents of Prince Georges County, Maryland should vote against video slots in Maryland unless the casinos are willing to fully the disclose the chances or odds of winning on all of their Video Slot Machines.

    What do you think?

I am not from West Virginia.

I'm from WA and we have video slots at the Casinos on the Res out here....Here, it seems like it robs everyone equally. I'm not much of a gambler myself, but I've stepped inside of a casino a few times and it wasn't predominately one race in there getting tooken for their cash.

There's a casino not that far from me at the yonkers raceway. It's called Empire and i've been there once about 3am in the morning with a friend. We didn't go to gamble, we went there to get something to eat. As we walked thru and looked around, all you saw were sad faces and i was like :eeek:. Some people looked like they were scared to go home because they were just sittin at the machine with their backs to it and their arms crossed, with this look of desperation on their face as if they were searching for the right lie to tell when they got home. One lady was actually crying and clutching her pocketbook.

Casino's aren't racist, they are equal opportunity opportunist's. They lend the gambler some hope and give him or her the opportunity to take a chance on winning, knowing that the odds are stacked against the gambler.

I mean just by me seeing like 10 ATM machines as soon as we walked in the front door told me all i needed to know. That once they get you in there, they don't want you to leave. That is until you have no more money to give to them.

Btw, i actually think the noises all the machines make to fool people into thinking that people are winning all around the casino are actually hypnotic.

The caption under this picture reads: "Loosing all my money at Empire, but i still had fun"...

Now i don't know about ya'll but i ain't never had fun at loosing money. The sounds of the machines had her hypnotized into thinking she was having fun giving her money away....lol

Not me...the sound sounds like a cash register (cha-ching, cha-ching), sounds like it's mocking me and taking my money.

Man, I have not been to a casino in over 15 years. When I did I always hit the Blackjack table since it had the best odds, but the truth was I never was really into the mentality of striking it rich I'd actually win a little and get off the table just to hit up the buffet. lol

Never gambled that much to begin with and when I did if I lost $10 the night was OVER, at least where gambling was concerned.

The poker table is where you have the biggest chance of winning cuz you play against other people and its very dependant on your skills as a bullshiter.

I did not say that slots see color. When things are more accessible to people they tend to try it or use it more than going out of there way.

Are Casinos ever in wealthy neighborhoods? I am not sure. This is a tough decision. Part of me wants to vote yes, so that they can bring those businesses to PG County and everyone elses money, but the reality does remain that many of those losers will be people from the neighboring communities. Casinos do not put on their machines the odds or chances of winning. they can make these chances higher in this community versus Las Vegas and people will not know it. So, the question really is, how do you make sure that the gambling industry does not program the machines in minority communities different than they do in predominately white communities.

Also, Prince Georges County, Maryland has more African American home owners per captia than any other place in the entire USA. They are not recommending putting this casino in Fairfax County, VA or Montgomery, MD. They like to put golf courses and nice malls with better stores in those communities.

On the flip side, that would be a lot of money coming to Prince Georges County, MD. I am reaching out to the politicians. They need to put this information on the slot machines, so people will be able to know that one day they were winning when the machine was configured to pay out 44% of the time versus less then 16% of the time. For instance, on lottery tickets, it mentions the chances of winning. This should also be on the slot machines.

BTW, I have won the jackpot at Maryland Live 3 times. I have lost maybe the same amount of money. I think Gambling counseling should include teaching people how to gamble responsibly and when to walk away and switch machines.
