Anthony Mackie, one of the stars of the new film The Adjustment Bureau, which opens in theaters next Friday, March 4, didn't hold back in a recent interview with theGrio.
Mackie, who can be seen on the cover of Vanity Fair's annual 'Hollywood' issue, said all of the barriers in Hollywood for African-Americans have been broken.

"I think right now [blacks] are being kinda lazy on our game," Mackie said. "There are enough brothers with distribution deals and production deals where we should be making our own movies."

Mackie, who starred as Tupac Shakur in 2009's Notorious, said there is no shortage of black directors, writers or stars.

"Oprah got her own network," Mackie said. "Michael Jordan own a franchise. We got black money.

there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to tell the stories that we want to tell and portray ourselves the way we want to be portrayed."

He's right. With all the money, resources, and networking, blacks have to be literally out of their mind not to do our own thing. Let's take the NBA and NFL for example, black players have the money, endorsements, and fans to make thier own league if they wanted to. But instead we are more than happy to subject ourselves to a dictator like Roger Goddell and David Stern, and now they want a lockout and decrease pay for players lol smh.

He's suggesting something that doesn't start at adulthood. You have to learn from childhood how to want to do your own thing as a people economically. Hollywood actors are just like most black people. They supported the Chinese and Koreans stores in their communities while being taught to seek out a "good job."

we got plenty of stories to tell...

:qqb009: so what we need is a film that presents a black man as doing his own thing and making it.

this aint the 70s , Hollywood is a morgue

and the Oscar's tonight is proof of it

Black folks could make mega billions internationaly,
using computer tech modalities to market and distrbute

straight to DVD and Blutooth, serious, real movies and market by word of keys

    on social networks;

    You want animation?

Look at the rich resource of African folk tales

    You want sword and fantasy?

Look at the stories of African kingdoms and empires as well as the Moors

    You want action?

Like the brother said we got nuff writers

    You want love stories?

Look at all the novels out there done by us

And as far as historical dramas

It would take a millenium to do that justice

We realy need our own movie channel on both HDTV, and all cables,
as well as our own black version of netflix
