    Just lovely kari thanks for the link I've always loved that poem...my momma gave it to me when i was 11 and I neva knew about the author thank u Kari :)

    That was a very beautiful peom. I agree with you Rosetta, we tend to not see that version of Blacks in the media. This poem though does help since kinky hair, big lip, broad nose people usually are dealt the brunt of the nasty abuse. It needed to be written.

    yes sista rosetta i have a narrow nose and lite skin but i must agree wit sista Royal...it needed to be said :)

    I believe the purpose for posting this poem, was to stem the tide of black people with the above mentioned features, from hating themselves. I think :)

    Thanks for replying to the post. It wasn't meant to disrespect the lighter skinned black people. I would be disrespecting my mom and sister and son. I love them all dearly. But there is more hatred toward the darkerskinned black people with those features, I'm sure most would agree. If we just look at the media for example. It just seemed like a nice poem that looked at darkskin in a positive way.
