‹For the second time in a week, the Harris County DA's office is announcing they are taking steps to free a wrongly convicted inmate.

Michael Anthony Green, 45, has served 27 years for a sexual assault prosecutors are now convinced he did not commit, thanks to DNA evidence. It's believed to be a record time behind bars for a Texas inmate wrongly imprisoned.

First Assistant DA Jim Leitner was pretty bold in the announcement: "The evidence in this case had been sitting in the District Clerk's Office for 27 years, and no one had taken the initiative to do anything with it in the past," Leitner said. "The difference now is that you've got the Post Conviction Review Section looking into it -- and that made all the difference in the case of Mr. Green." Facebook page that Thursday morning attorneys and the judge agreed Green was "too upset" to be freed, and the hearing was re-set for Friday.

    And another....

Innocent Black Man Freed After 16 Years In Jail

    Post by NewsOne Staff
    on Jun 11, 2010 at 4:07 pm

    From BlackVoices.com:

Jabar Collins spent 16 years in prison for a crime he says he did not commit. He was freed after a judge discovered that prosecuters hid the fact that several of their witnesses who testified, benefited from doing so from the jury.

Sometimes DNA evidence is the reason these men are freed. Other times, it’s witnesses who recant their testimony, false witness identification and coerced confessions.

Thats how you know the amerikkkan prison system is just another modern day enslavement tool for these capitalist beasts to profit off of afrikans in amerikkka, men and women.

Thats why brothers and sisters need to be savvy in knowing how this justice system goes against them from birth to death, and not knowingly do stupid things that increase this sytem's capital.

Its well known that the profiling of black men and women is a purposeful racist institutionalized measure to make sure their prison ranks continue to fill year after year. Thats why these nazi police that roam our communities, are not their to "SERVE" the afrikans interests, but rather to "PROTECT" their capitalist and investors interests, and build more capital for their cities, towns and states, thats why the prison system is a billion dollar industry while schools and the minds of young brothers and sisters rot away in these imperialist HIStory slave making public school systems, they don't care about you or me, they either want to profit off the afrikan their former slave, through either being a conditioned labor slave under their white corporate rule, or a criminal enslaved in their prison dungeons.

They actually make money on wall street, with investors in how many prison beds will be filled, henceforth more private prisons being built, because they know how their society is built upon racism and oppressive tactics that rear afrikans towards crime, therefore why the sentencing laws are skewed in the bad favor for black men and women when they step in front of a judge.

Here's how they still keep their slave capitalist structure going in 2010, as its always been since they stepped out of their caves, using others to civilize themselves, and enrich their lands and people:

Look how they sell and trade us still on wall street, that oh btw was built off the enslavement of afrikans, how wicked the truth is, but judgement upon this foul race that built this wickedness:

It is a sad day when someone is wrongly convicted of a crime. Lord knows I would NEVER want such a thing to happen to me. I mean to lose decades of you life, the prime of your life is just a horrible thought but what's worse is the idea that the real killer, rapist, robber, or what ever is out there walking around living life adds insult to injury.

I get the idea that some of you forget that a crime has been committed, a victim exist, and SOMEONE committed that crime. Relative to this discussion, in most cases if one Black man is convicted of the crime it was another Black man who actually committed that crime. So whats the deal with acting as though the justice system is out there manufacturing crimes and locking up Black folks just cause the want to?

It's because, typically, the police and prosecutors find a likely suspect and then manipulate evidence and/or witnesses to fit the suspect they selected.

Once they have their "man," they don't look anywhere else.

Especially if it is a particularly heinous and/or publicized crime... to appease "public outcry' and to close the "books" and to feather the nests of prosecutors and judges, they hurry up and find somebody/anybody as a "most likely candidate" for the crime.

.....and YES, while the REAL criminal goes free.

I clearly understand the dynamics of WHY the WRONG man gets convicted but it is statements like, "Thats how you know the amerikkkan prison system is just another modern day enslavement tool for these capitalist beasts to profit off of afrikans in amerikkka, men and women." that make one think that some of us don't realize that a CRIME has been comitted and victims made. Unfortunately, it is the dynamics inwhich you pointed out that make one man pay for another mans crime, but lets say a Black man was wrongly convicted of rap prior to DNA based upon a witness testimony and a hair that was identified as being from a Black man. If this man is later exonerated based upon DNA evidence, he is victim of the dynamics that effect EVERY CRIMINAL case.

Yes, I understand and agree that there is a problem of any "Black man will do" mentality. My point, however is that this is not about profiting off of Black people because the end result either way would be that a Black man would be imprisoned, and rightfully so...BUT THE RIGHT ONE. So the numbers would be the same, a crime has been committed.

"Thats how you know the amerikkkan prison system is just another modern day enslavement tool for these capitalist beasts to profit off of afrikans in amerikkka, men and women."

Considering the numbers of Blacks imprisoned would be the same, I don't think this particular statistic is indicative of the prison system being another modern day enslavement tool. A crime has been committed, a victim made...if someone was not imprisoned that would be an insult to injury...the additional crime against us is not that a Black man is imprisoned but that the wrong Black man is imprisoned and that this happens disproprotionately to Black men twice as much as to White men.

The statistics are clear, Blacks are the victim of "any Black man will do" mentality where as they are much more careful to convict the RIGHT White man. Here is a link on the statistics:
    http://www.innocenceproject.org/Content/351.php

There have been 258 post-conviction DNA exonerations in the United States.

    • The first DNA exoneration took place in 1989. Exonerations have been won in 34 states; since 2000, there have been 192 exonerations.

    • 17 of the 258 people exonerated through DNA served time on death row.

    • The average length of time served by exonerees is 13 years. The total number of years served is approximately 3,281.

    • The average age of exonerees at the time of their wrongful convictions was 27.

    Races of the 258 exonerees:

    152 African Americans
    79 Caucasians

    21 Latinos
    2 Asian American
    4 whose race is unknown
