It is well known that music was integral in the Civil Rights Movement What is not so well known is that Coretta Scott King had planned on a career as a concert ...artist and She was a promising young soprano who was studying on scholarship at the New England Conservatory of Music when she met a theology student named Martin Luther King, Jr. They married in 1953. While she did complete her degrees in voice and violin, she gladly joined her husband in his ministry and the civil rights movement and Today we honor her and her husband for their invaluable contributions in the civil rights movement, and beyond. http://afrikan-mapambano.tumblr.com/
