I knew a girl from around my way
A real sassy pants, most old folks would say
    A drop dead dyme
Wouldn't even consider giving brothers her age time
    She was a hot mama
Long hair and spoke with a foul mouth when she talked to ya
    Her name was Keisha
Yeah, and she wasn't even 18 yet

I only had the heart to look from afar
Because I was scared that if I tried to tell her right she would take me there
She would only say she had heard the same speech before
And that my one speech wouldn't change her anymore
But if she would have listened to me I could have told her that fooling with a older man would be the dead of her
That Dre didn't mean any good to her
To him, she was just another h0e from the hood
Nah-uh, he didn't mean her any good
Cuz she wasn't even 18 yet

I sat on my porch and I saw her walk down the street with tears down her face
Wanted to help her as he held her capture with a gun in his waist
    She became his prisoner
A 16 and a HALF year old girl to a 30 year old wife beater
I listened in the wall as he beat her
    I wanted to help her
    Be by her
    Tell her
but if I tried she would tell me to get the fukk away from her
Just as she had done many before me, IT WAS HER FUTURE
And she wasn't even 18 yet

    Money can't buy you love
If it could she wouldn't have lost her confidence and start walking with her head low
Scared to talk to another brotha cuz he would hit her with a elbow
So many broken bones the doctors didn't even want to see her anymore
To fast for her age didn't know what she had got into
    didn't realize until
    until
    until
    until
    I didn't see her anymore
No bumps on the wall anymore
No screams in the night anymore
    Just one loud bang
The thing I know her lifeless body was being pulled out a ditch two miles away
Her purple body was murdered and torchered by her own man
The same man she left her family for
    her friends for
    and sold her soul for
[email protected], and she wasn't even 18 yet
Just a 16 year ols girl naive to the world
If she let me I would have told her
Told her that she wasn't even 18 years old yet
And she wasn't ready for the fast lane yet

Not even 18 I can vision
Mental picture I can paint it
    Now I see it clearly
    Not even 18
    Im crying right now
Wishing I could off homie right now
Feeling pressure from the block right now
    Why her
    until
    until
    until
Until it has hit home now
    Not my daughter
    I still strong now
Feel the family like my own now
    Promise God got your back
The last thing on there mind
    They lost the precious thing
The one thing that was holding it down
    Her spirit magnifyned the room
    How did this happen
    It happened so soon
    Now even 18
    Whole life ahead
I wish I knew the name
I put the gun to his head
    Not even 18
    Bye at sweet 16
    Guns rang at 12:13
Heart stopped at 15 past the hour
Sirens rang 30 minutes tot he hour
    Life support came
    Another angel slang
    Man not even 18

Dang, that was deep. But at the same time do you know it painted the picture I had in my mind as I attended this girl's funeral. It was Thursday, Thanksgiving day. It hurt me so bad. What hurt even badder was that her own family didn't bury her. They left it to the state. They could have at least attended. It was just five people there. Two of them were people I begged to come to support me. I felt sorry for her. She had no life, no friends, nothing. Faded picture colors. That's what I saw as I saw this lifeless girl. It almost made me stomach hurt because I didn't even feel that sad when I saw fellow gang members die when I was in the gang.

Nice piece. It really made me think about people I know that are in the same situation as the girl you wrote about.

that was a sad unfortunate situation. its nice too know that are good souls such as you. we are so quick to condemn a person because of the path they chose. god say hate the act and not the person. maybe if her family or friends care enough of her they would have sought outside help. there are many helps for girls in that situation. but its too late for shoulda, woulda., coulda. you have shown a fine example for being their for support. i'm sure if she could see this she would be touched. flow on poet.
