i see the world through different lenses
    in rhyme and in melody
when i inhale i do so with the keenest of senses
i do what i do in a way that shouldn’t be

i am a part of a caste that has been since the spoken word
since the creation of the wheel
and since the shepherd started to tend to the herd
my profession is to articulate how you feel

the rising of the sun, the setting sun, the cool moon shining
the hot summer day, the beautiful day at the beach
i describe all of these with such precision and timing
i have been gifted with the literary gift to teach

the struggle of a people, their spiritual strivings and their blessin’s
their history, their present, and their future endeavor’s
all of these things i hit on target like two smith and wesson’s
but i also chronicle that the stagnate and their whatever’s

i have been called to be a prophet and a priest
a child of the king and yet a wander of this age
i am to be pure Show Bread without the yeast
i have been commanded to print all of this on the page

The Lord said that I should write the vision
and make it plain on the tablet(s)
that he may run who reads it
if you don’t know I am the poet
