    Aaskënö'kêôk. Të'ë niyutyéê? (Greetings. What's happening?)

I've discussed this with some members off-forum, but since we all are discussing rituals here is a simple one.

    The items: (for Oct. 31)

1 white candle (an emergency or altar candle is cool)
a cup of coffee (instant coffee is okay)
    a glass of water
    sugar
    white bread
    a mirror
a white chalk substance or cornmeal
some cooked food w/o salt (black eyed peas with rice and okra)
    cigarettes
myrrh, frankincense and copal incense resin (myrrh and frankincense is okay)

    The Setup

Find a corner, preferrably in the bathroom, to set this up.
If you have tile or hard floors, draw an equilateral cross on the floor with the chalk with O's and X's opposite each other.
You can use cornmeal if drawing a cross with chalk is not feasible.
Make sure one line in the cross starts at the V of the corner. You can also sprinkle Kananga water (if you have it) on the lines.
Place the mirror at the back right in front of the corner's V.
Sprinkle sugar in the water and place the water to one side near the center of the cross
Place the white bread over the glass of sugar water
Place the cup of coffee to another side
Cleanse the candle upside down in running water and then inscribe a cross using a toothpick in the candle.

Performing the ritual: (Do this at 9 p.m.)

Light the candle and hold it upside down over a white saucer. Allow the wax to drip in the saucer and while the wax is still hot, stick the candle's base in the wax. Place the saucer with the candle on it behind the center of the cross aligned in front of the mirror. Light the incense and set it to your left hand side near the front of the cross.

Now hold the cooked food and say, "In the presence of the 4 directions (motion to the East, then the West, then the South and lastly the North), I offer this food (state the name of the food) to you, my ancestors. May this offering pass underneath the waters and give nourishment to you. I ask for your strength, your elevation and your guidance. I am your child (say your name) and your blood is my blood. Watch over me, my people, and grant me the blessings you desire to give. May our family remain strong and last forever. So it is, so shall it be." (You can do a variation - this is just an example. It's your peeps.)

You envision yourself passing your offering through sacred space and place your offering on the center of the cross. Tell your folks to come down and eat and commune with you. Ask them to visit your dreams and give you thoughts, creative thoughts. Tell them the light is for them and water.
(You can also use rum if you're old enough to purchase it or wish to use it)

Keep the space set up from the 31st to the Nov. 3rd. Dispose of the food at a crossroads or a cemetary.

You can also do an illumination with this ritual. You would like details of that let me know.

Addendum: Tried to use the "flashing colors" thang and it almost hurt my eyes

I will assume that you are a Black person even though this post makes me wonder. I am not much into rituals myself but I do visit burial plots of my Elders and Ancestors and have done so from Kali to New Mexico to New Orleans to Texas on back to Kali and at a minimum burn incense to puirfy their tombs, clear the ground, pour libation, and even feed the birds and ducks in the cemetery parks as BENNU are also sacred entities. Every time I do this and pray for their protection it strenghtens not only OUR connection but the covering over me. I have traveled all over the southern states of this country numerous times with virtually no money and my Ancestral Spirits led and protected me each time by opening up houses to my of relatives who in some cases I had never even met before.

    "pesky rituals". *smh*
