Black Relationships : An Open Letter to my Sisters

We need to study, learn and rediscover the continuity of African collectivism

"YOUR" strength? Really? And what about his strength? Better yet, what about "OUR" strength.

You alone are not strong, without me. If you feel this way, then you have no business being with me, let alone trying to "love" me.

All of this blatantly indicates why our relationships are in shambles; we think totally on a individualistic level, while it seems that we have lost our inherent ability to think socialistically.

We are missing the "all for one, one for all" mentality that other groups seem to have, and seem to take into consideration as a given in any situation that the endeavor in, be it economics, culture, and relationships.

PEACE

Brother Samurai, sisters need to realize that we need to drop yesterdays emotional packages and build on a new construct (New Africa)… the natural relationship constructs of the Black couple and family have been destroyed by a number of cultural distractions, social contradictions and overall attacks on our social structures, most of which have been post-slavery.

When I look at all of these books and plays that have mainstream appeal and are financed by the book and movie industry dealing with the revengeful avenging macho Black woman rising above her bad relationships with a worthless Black man, for a novel-created novelty “dream Negro” and sometimes a good job, I don’t see this type of entertainment being peddled to any other ethnic groups. And the bad part is, our women internalize this distorted mythos.

There is a difference between feminine-machismo and true-strength in a Black woman. Too many women are trying to readdress Black womanhood superfluously which brings out a lot individualistic demands (Black womanhood has been about social collectivism since antiquity)…I think the greatest evidence about the misdirection of Black women egos is the breakdown of the collectivity of their natural and intrinsic sisterhood…If you think men have issues with some sisters you should listen to Black women deal with each other…the competitiveness between Black women and the animosities can be almost misogynistic in nature at times. They are not coming together to even help themselves, let alone the reunification of the Black man/woman/and family. And with that said, there has been an upsurge, noticed by many, of Black female lesbianism (cloaked sometimes in some form of bi-sexuality)…it seems sometimes confusing...Brother there’s a lot to study on and talk about.

love is not supposed to be warfare.
you don't supposed to need rules of engagement.

here's the way i roll: if i love you, it means i want to have you happy
if it's two people and one biscuit, i will give YOU the biscuit.
if i love you, sister, you will not need no rule book, no lawyer and no policeman.
if i love you, i will put you on a pedestal and kiss your toes.

if you feel the same way about me, we have a deal.

maybe the problem is that these sisters have not had the experience of being loved by a real live black brother.

sisters, you need to get away from those overgrown children that you are so fond of and get yourself a MAN.
a grown @ssed man.

True indeed.

With so many brothers here reinforcing these truths, how come only 2 or 3 sisters on here are getting it??

You know...I've read a lot of what the Brothas on here have had to say about the Sistas...and their relationships with the Sistas...and how they hurt. But, I must be honest here without being raw...(and trust me, I want to be raw soooo bad). I can not see how SOME of these Brothas even develop relationships with Sistas....friendships or otherwise...when half of the time YOU DON'T LISTEN TO THE SISTAS.

This is a letter to whom? THE SISTAS....posted where...IN THE BLACK WOMEN....SISTERS...WARRIORS THREAD. Addressing what...SISTA'S BEHAVIOR IN RELATIONSHIPS WITH MEN. And we, the Brothas, refuse to stop whining and complaining about how we've been hurt long enough to understand the Sistas and their pain or concerns.

Man, I see why the Sisters and Brothers chat sessions were separated and no one in the other group could attend the other session. Sheesh.

D@MN, give that ish a rest. Sistas PLEASEEEEEE...give these Brothas a hug so that we can stop reading about how Sistas aren't speaking to them...or how some Sista has dogged them...or wouldn't give them sex without having feelings. D@MN...D@MN...D@MN...D@MN...D@MN. Can Sistas share a conversation between themselves without us crying about our pain and hurt?

The Sista was only giving advice to THOSE Sistas who are having problems in their relationships with men and can't figure out why...not ALL Sistas. She speaks more to the Sista's behavior than to the men. Brothas, ya'll just done came up in here and made this all about us AND IT'S NOT ABOUT US.

Whew....I needed that.

I love my Brothas. Y'all crack me the hell up.
