We need to study, learn and rediscover the continuity of African collectivism
Brother Samurai, sisters need to realize that we need to drop yesterdays emotional packages and build on a new construct (New Africa)… the natural relationship constructs of the Black couple and family have been destroyed by a number of cultural distractions, social contradictions and overall attacks on our social structures, most of which have been post-slavery.
When I look at all of these books and plays that have mainstream appeal and are financed by the book and movie industry dealing with the revengeful avenging macho Black woman rising above her bad relationships with a worthless Black man, for a novel-created novelty “dream Negro” and sometimes a good job, I don’t see this type of entertainment being peddled to any other ethnic groups. And the bad part is, our women internalize this distorted mythos.
There is a difference between feminine-machismo and true-strength in a Black woman. Too many women are trying to readdress Black womanhood superfluously which brings out a lot individualistic demands (Black womanhood has been about social collectivism since antiquity)…I think the greatest evidence about the misdirection of Black women egos is the breakdown of the collectivity of their natural and intrinsic sisterhood…If you think men have issues with some sisters you should listen to Black women deal with each other…the competitiveness between Black women and the animosities can be almost misogynistic in nature at times. They are not coming together to even help themselves, let alone the reunification of the Black man/woman/and family. And with that said, there has been an upsurge, noticed by many, of Black female lesbianism (cloaked sometimes in some form of bi-sexuality)…it seems sometimes confusing...Brother there’s a lot to study on and talk about.
SAMURAI36 said:"YOUR" strength? Really? And what about his strength? Better yet, what about "OUR" strength.
You alone are not strong, without me. If you feel this way, then you have no business being with me, let alone trying to "love" me.
All of this blatantly indicates why our relationships are in shambles; we think totally on a individualistic level, while it seems that we have lost our inherent ability to think socialistically.
We are missing the "all for one, one for all" mentality that other groups seem to have, and seem to take into consideration as a given in any situation that the endeavor in, be it economics, culture, and relationships.
PEACE
