An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth
    in the Old Testament
    thou shall not kill
what about who has not sin cast the first stone
is there a law higher than my father 's Mosaic Law

laws are a means of keeping you on the path
it can not solely save you
to take someone’s life to avenge another
in my eyes is still murder
I am outraged ,hurt, and ashamed

she knew she was going to die
as she pleaded to the court to save her life
she was guilty and yes she struck the breath
from another and took their life
but God is mercy God is grace
and who are we to take his place
refusing his child mercy ,hopefully someone will be more just to us
    on judgement day
when we are at the gates pleading for our life

    she was truly guilty
but she so desperately wanted to live
as they walked her down the corridor
the echoes of the preacher praying
the tear stains on her cheeks
tears flowing so that they must have
    quenched her burning soul
as soon as they strapped her down the tears stopped
she smiled and said her peace
    a quick I love you

    laying their arms stretched out
    the right and the left
    legs strapped soul was released
    then they inserted the poison
    they took her physical
    but God saved her soul
a murderer was saved that day
as "Americans " and their law took her physical
    God embraced her soul
God has mercy even on Death Row
God is love ,God is peace ,and God is mercy
    who are we to judge
who are we to say who must die
what will be our punishment for our sins
for no sin is any greater than another

death came knocking at my families door
young and vibrant he took her life
not before she suffered ,begged for her life
she had a child to live for
is what I can only imagine
was the thought pressed on her brain
    stabbed and raped
    bleeding through the night
and by morning she was standing on the right
her soul had left our presence
and all that remain was a bruised body

    he denied his part
and when he was finally caught
    he poetically apologized
I can not forget but time heals
hate plus bitterness is only a recipe for evil
    we laid her to rest
even the heartache of her death
    no revenge did we seek
my aunt needed to rest in peace
no need to shed blood in her name
he will spend the rest of his life reliving his sin
while my aunt smiles down from the heavens

no one should have to plead for their life
no one has the right to take a life
but everyone has the right to life
a murderer on death row or a loving aunt
Through faith God saves us all

This poem is the very reason, why I have questioned death row. Though I don't think that it should be done away (in cases where there is 100% evidence...which is rare these days) with all together, I do believe there is a rush to judgment, way too often, especially for black people.

This is a very dramatic read, that sits the reader down and make them think...deeply.
