I don't know if this is political racism...But I don't think it's fair to determine if a family can receive or how much government aid they can receive based on a child's grades in school. A child's grades could be bad for many reasons.
I think the responsibility should remain on the parent, of whom applied for the aid in the first place, not the child's.
I heard of a new law that may go into effect, to which people will be drugged screened upon receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) a.k.a. "cash assistance", because people are using their cash assistance to support their drug habits. I find that stipulation necessary.

    Thanks for your input.

If you do a google search on the area in which the school the politician visited, I am quite sure you will come across the race statistics of whom this "bill" will affect if it was passed.

Well I never would put it past the government if it was based on race...

It is very sad indeed. The kids are being used as a pawn in a vicious game of oppression of the minority (according to my research AAs comprise about 17.1% of the population) to keep them down. smdh. If it wasn't for him being "shamed" by that little girl and her mom, he would have proceeded.

Parents becoming more involved in their childrens education negates this.

This is discrimination. There are many reasons for poor grades..What if the students were ill for an extended period of time. I am so glad this system is not here in this country. I have a neice who suffered with a serious heart problem when she was elementary school and had missed a lot of school, but in the end she persevered and was able to go the USA and study and she is a medical doctor in Missouri. Her parents paid her tuition; but there are students here who are poor and are on welfare, and if they work hard, they can go to university or end up with a scholarship..OUR EDUCATION IS FREE. The USA should hang its head in shame....the country is the most repressive when it comes to treatment of black folks. The system shouldl ook at the problem and see what is causing the failure...in the end those who need the help most will suffer....The American educational system is one which still baffles me. Children are not responsible for their parents being on welfare. White people in Australia and New Zealand are on welfare...and the government is not reverting to these tactics. The whole American system STINKS.
