The city of Heracleion was engulfed underwater 1500 years ago. This grand city had been mentioned by the Greek writer Herodotus, the 5th-century BC historian. He had told a wonderful tale of Helen of Troy, who traveled to Heracleion, then a port of 'great wealth', with her Trojan lover, Paris.
When French marine archaeologist Franck Goddio stumbled upon some relics, it led them to one of the greatest finds of the 21st century; a city underwater. The discovery took place when Goddio had been in search of Napoleon’s warships from the 1798 Battle of the Nile, when he had been defeated by Nelson in these very waters, but to his surprise, he stumbled upon this magnificent discovery.

The discoveries include the colossal statues of the Egyptian goddess Isis, the god Hapi, and an unidentified Egyptian pharaoh, all preserved in excellent condition by their muddy burial shroud. Along with these 16ft statues there are hundreds of smaller statues of Egyptian gods, among them the figures that guarded the temple where Cleopatra was inaugurated as Queen of the Nile. Dozens of sarcophagi have also been found, containing the bodies of mummified animals sacrificed to Amun-Gereb, the supreme god of the Egyptians. Many amulets, or religious charms, have been unearthed, too, showing gods such as Isis, Osiris and Horus.

Robert Ballard, one of the world's most famous underwater explorers, has set his sights on proving the existence of one of the Bible's most well known stories.

In an interview with ABC's Christiane Amanpour the archaeologist who discovered the Titanic discussed his findings from his search in Turkey for evidence of a civilization swept away by a monstrous ancient flood.

"We went in there to look for the flood," Ballard said. "Not just a slow moving, advancing rise of sea level, but a really big flood that then stayed... The land that went under stayed under."

There you go with that crazy stuff again. There was no NOAH AND THE ARK FLOOD....PERIOD !! What we do know is that the massive ice sheets that had Europe in the ice age began to melt. Theses were large sheets of ice...and yes, regions were massively flooded. Even the Qu'ran states that it was a "regional flood". According to the article that you referred to, it states this to have been round 5,000 B.C. The problem is that at that time, there were uninterrupted civilizations, such as Kemet that not only suffered nothing but didn't record anything as well. Since ancient Kemet is known today as one of the greatest recorders of events that affected them on every level of their lives, isn't it strange that there is no mention of a flood?

By carbon dating shells found along the shoreline, Ballard said he believes they have established a timeline for that catastrophic event, which he estimates happened around 5,000 BC. Some experts believe this was around the time when Noah's flood could have occurred.
"It probably was a bad day," Ballard said. "At some magic moment, it broke through and flooded this place violently, and a lot of real estate, 150,000 square kilometers of land, went under."
The theory goes on to suggest that the story of this traumatic event, seared into the collective memory of the survivors, was passed down from generation to generation and eventually inspired the biblical account of Noah.

Last question first, Ballard is not a theologian, but an underwater explorer; his words are just as typical as your anti-Biblical nature.

To Egypt not recording things, very true, however, your Thread suggests confirmation of this, and does so quite aptly:

Of course, we wouldn't want to forget this info, would we? What info? The idea that the so called Hebrews got the story from somewhere else and just stuck it in the Bible as if it really happened!!! Now we got Black people running around on some ish that they themselves don't know the source of, have taken it to be the word of God all because some people who don't even know anything about the story themselves put it in a book....and now we in the year 2014 are running around repeating some thing that, just like the Hebrews, don't know where it came from or IF IT EVER HAPPENED.....AMAZING TO SAY THE LEAST !!!!!!

These are the words of Irving Finkel, a curator of the British Museum, according to the Associated Press. Finkel, an expert in cuneiform inscriptions, translated the tablet after the owner brought it in to the museum. Acquired shortly after World War II, it contains an account of a great flood, and a man who received divine instructions to build a large boat to rescue all the animals, who were to be loaded 'two by two'.
This is a very familiar tale to many, of course. It describes the story of Noah, from the Old Testament, who was warned of an impending flood that would wash away the wickedness of humanity, and told to build an ark and gather two of each animal in the world. It also appears in the Epic of Gilgamesh, an ancient Mesopotamian poem that predates the Biblical account, where a man named Utnapishtim is warned by the god Ea of a great flood and told to build a large boat, sealed with pitch and bitumen, and to gather his family and the animals of the field to be saved. This newest version tells it a slightly different way, and even provides a new detail that apparently has never been seen before — the 'ark' was round!
"It was really a heart-stopping moment — the discovery that the boat was to be a round boat," Finkel told the Associated Press. "That was a real surprise."

When the gods decided to wipe out mankind with a flood, the god Enki, who had a sense of humour, leaked the news to a man called Atra-hasis, the 'Babylonian Noah,' who was to build the Ark. Atra-hasis's Ark, however was round. To my knowledge, no one has ever thought of that possibility. The new tablet also describes the materials and the measurements to build it: quantities of palm-fibre rope, wooden ribs and bathfuls of hot bitumen to waterproof the finished vessel. The result was a traditional coracle, but the largest the world had ever dreamed of, with an area of 3,600 sq. metres (equivalent to two-thirds the area of a football pitch), and six-metre high walls. The amount of rope prescribed, stretched out in a line, would reach from London to Edinburgh!
To anyone who has the typical image learnt from children’s toys and book illustrations in mind, a round Ark is bizarre at first, but, on reflection, the idea makes sense. There are clear links showing that the Gilgamesh story was the first of the two accounts, with the tale being included in the Hebrew bible by writers who heard it during their exile in Babylon..
