I thought AmeriKKKa took care of its veterans.
So why are so many of them homeless?
They gave their lives to fight for "their" country,
becoming the killing machines that AmeriKKKa calls soldiers.
But when they returned, "their" country gave them the cold shoulder.
Denied work & homes & the little money they do give them
isn't enough to live in comfort.
So many of them walk the streets,
begging for money to battle their hunger.

AmeriKKKa drafted children who otherwise could've gone to college
in an attempt to better themselves.
But instead, they were forced to go to a strange land
& kill in order to survive in hell.
If they refused to go, their new homes became prison cells.

Some people left here & never came home.
Some that did return left their minds, their limbs, or their souls.
Haunted by horrific nightmares & flashbacks.
Can't celebrate the 4th of July cuz fireworks give them panic attacks.
If a car backfirs, they duck for cover.
Some walk down the streets speaking to deceased unit brothers.

It's ridiculous how many homeless vets I see on a daily,
Sitting in wheelchairs with missing legs, holding signs that read "Help Me".
What's even more ridiculous is that they have to.
It's plain to see those people are disabled, physically or mentally.
As wealthy as this country is, they shouldn't have a want or a need.
But they were used & discarded like garbage.
To them killing in Vietnam was an easy thing to do,
but living in AmeriKKKa is the hardest.

    Thank you fam.

And what's sad is that many people close their eyes to blackout such scenes.

Out of sight, out of mind.

Positive…this is so dear to me
I have an uncle who was drafted to Vietnam in the
Beginning of his youth…when he returned he was
An alcoholic because that’s what the military gave him
    to survive while there…
The things he saw…he can’t erase from his mind
And the military….feeding the men drugs..
Now, if he doesn’t drink…his mind returns
To that place in time…although his body is with us.

Thanks for shedding light on this…I also have friends
    Who’s fathers roam the streets…lost psychologically…
This country….and it’s levels of hypocrisy, greed and
Misdirected foreign affairs…only god can help us…

    Wonderful piece you have here!

I can't thank everyone who responded enough.

Angelic, thank you deeply. Although I have been blessed not to know anyone going through this, I see many of them tossed out into the cold with noone 2 love them or speak 4 them. This is my chance.

Khasm, thanks 4 the add-on, truly a wonderful input.
