    I know a man,
    he's eighty now
who told me of a time when
    he took his African-AMERICAN
    wife to the hospital
she was with child and was hemorrhaging
    they/you/society refused
her service because of her hue

and you want me to pledge allegiance
    to......................................................you
    you're funny

I know of a young man named Till,
Emmittt was his first name who
was killed by seeds you planted
and YOU refused to convict them
(neck tied to a combine, tossed in
    the Mississippi)
    because of their hue

and you want me to pledge allegiance
    to......................................................you
    you're funny

I know of four girls in Birmingham
killed by a bomb you acted as if
you did not hear / I wonder
did YOU care about the mother's
    crying? It's funny....................
those branches on your apple tree
    have just been convicted
    (what year is it? 2001?)

and you want me to pledge allegiance
    to......................................................you
    you're funny

I remember when you classified me
as 3/5ths / I still went to war for the
good of YOU (and I call you sick)
    and still I was enslaved/beaten/
into the soils I bled on/my kin died on

and you want me to pledge allegiance
    to.......................................................you
    you're funny

    I remember when you purposely
    sickened my brothers in Tuskegee
with syph(you)lis / and now AIDS
    infiltrates Africa "worldwide"
    Hmmmm............and you try to
assert that a "monkey" bit somebody
    in the jungle....you're funny

and you want me to pledge allegiance
    to........................................................you
    you're funny

I am living within your belly bouncing around
while you laugh at me and my people's struggles
I burn in your gastric acids and glide through
your intestinal tract to be DIE-gested and **** out
    to serve you again....as fertilizer...but
I have this mental sword / I'm prepared to slice
your insides poisoning you with your own
    sickness...

Look at you doubled over, writhing in pain, asking
for a helping hand from me? You're

    funny

    Tight as hayell!!!!

    Struck me deep with this!!!!

    *emotions stirred*:)

But you know what I think about sometimes? Understanding this piece and the pain/suffering that has affected us/oppressed us, as Christians wouldn't it be wrong to not give them a helping hand?

    *just a thought*

you are right to a point. As a people/person yes, but, as a system that has been put in place to stifle/suffocate/kill us "NO." That's just my opinion. Thanks for helping me cogitate a lil' bit.

    one love.,blak

    Blak~

    Hmmmm....

Well, you already know this piece is
    tight.

It is very thought provoking! And you know
it really is a trip when you list a few of the
examples of how we've been treated as a
"people" by society ~ and it really makes you
    sick......because there are countless more
illustrations like these, and far worse,
that speak to the way we have always
    been unfairly treated, beaten, slain,
etc. by white america -- so true; funny
how they want us to pledge allegiance
    amongst other things!

    Thanks for this Blak~ :

Clearly I understand your point. I've been known to 'deal' with blatent disrespect from others and it has even gone to the point where I'd continue to 'deal' with these people (not just 'them' but my own people as well). It takes a lot to get me to the point of Enough is Enough.

It's tough you know. Especially when you deal with blatent disrespect from your own (my mother/father/ and now ex-friends). It can carry over and that is not a good thing.

I've gotten to the point in my life now that, I don't have to...I REFUSE to allow anyone no matter what race, to disrespect me in any way, form or fashion.

    thank you blak!
