Hahaha! And you're surprised and shocked!!! Apparently you haven't read much of the history of this country. I highly recommend "Blacks In Reconstruction In America: 1860-1880", by W.E.B. Dubois! During this period there where sixteen blacks in the U.S. Congress, two were senators!!! Smile Btw, some of these black elected officials were lynched by the Democrats (KKK).
Afrikans established schools in this country for their children as early as 1830! Long before the American Civil War! In fact there is evidence that one such school was established in 1774, during the American Revolution!!! Whites dismantled the independent Black schools and commandeered the education of the Afrikans thru the Freedman's Bureau!!! Dubois writes about this very important piece of our history in his book on reconstruction!!! In addition, Thomas Webber concurred in his dissertation that became a book, "Deep Like The River",If they are not including honest content in school curriculum, we must try and educate our children ourselves. We must not depend only on schools.
