In 1762, a French Aristocrat had a son with a slave, Marie Dumas. When the aristocrat Alexandre Antoine Davy de la Pailleterie returned to France, he left his family. His son, Thomas-Alexandre, later joined his father. Thomas-Alexander joined the French army at 24, became an exceptional general, and was known as “The Black Devil” by his enemies. Thomas-Alexandre adopted his mother’s last name, Dumas. He had a son with a French woman and named him #AlexandreDumas. Alexandre Dumas became one of France’s most famous writers; he wrote The #ThreeMusketeers and #TheCountOfMonteCristo.
