    Collard greens and pigtails
    cooked up right
    Jambalaya and crawfish
    spice up tight.

    Mama old kitchen packed
    with folk
    Uncle dat, Aunty dat,
    you know , the works.

    Scent so succulent
    mouthwatering, delightful
oh just gimme a 'lickle' handful
But all i get is a wood spoon
    to my behind
and order to go back outside

    Im hungry, so hungry
    dis aint right
mama got to feed her only gal chile

When i worked up the nerve
to go and demand my rights
    i saw the table
    sumptously arrayed before my sight

So i had me a plate
and i had me a chair
and ready to dig in before it was too late
But the time Grandpa Freddy had said the Grace
    my fat old greedy Uncle
    done eat all the cake.
