She's only fifteen untouched and so clean
rare thing for such a serene daughter of a queen to be seen
unscathed freshly bathed and scented lightly
skin smooth, voice too and her tiara dark and mighty
she arrives at ebony salon to meet a lady named shavon
who told her mother to let her cut her hair and it will be da bomb
so long, lovely locks.. no, not naps they are queenly coils
her mother may have failed in life so, she does not feel royal
no king to intervene and make sure her hair is saved
so she's all but, shaved, permed and smooth derm-abraised
"No Lye!" she raves, "I thought you said no lye mom!"
Her helpless mother says, "Lay back, this style.. will.. be.. da bomb?!?"
Feeling guilty for a moment, her mother sighs and watches oprah
and flicks back and forth from soap operas on the shop's new sofa
Shavon is a tall lady with slick hair and long nails
The daughter is in constant fear while she rinses out the smell
the stench of the chemical nightmare come to life
makes her little toes curl as she begins to cry
the only ease to this dilemma are the compliments she gets
and the confidence equipped with a black and bronze finish
frills and bangs and curls and thangs
    weaves, techniques, buns and hangs
"How do you like my hair, baby?" says my woman
    "It's nice." said I,
knowing it was a lie while inside i cry
    wondering When, How, and Why
    did her Godliness die?
    agony, agony!

I'm glad you brought this write back down to Earth for the more sensitive readers! i'm also glad you liked this piece. I was just getting inside of the feeling of having your original taken away, it can be dramatic for some.

What may appear only to be a chemical burn, is actually deeper than we can fathom at that time, something essential is being stripped away. So many hair stories to tell, poet.

You say something essential is lost or stripped away
    Define essential... okay
    1. Constituting or being part of the essence of something; inherent.
    2. Basic or indispensable; necessary: essential ingredients
    1. Something fundamental.
    es·sen·tial

Your essence, your basics, your necessary ingedients and fundamentals have been stripped away. I'm going to stop asking why because I know why. Why fry, why try, why dye, why lie, why I oughtta...? What? cry? my, my, my
