i like to listen to the wind
play as the melody of the
jazz piano tells stories of
life in the return of the fall;

the dance of dried leaves on
the cooling surface swirling
around making a kaleidoscope
of colors mixed with hints of joy;

i like to take a moments rest
on a park bench and just listen,
listen, listen to the quiet as the
trees rustle a harmony in the breeze;

have you ever seen leaves in the
midst of a turn from green to brown,
summer to fall, life to death as it
awaits it's chance to play in the grass?

i like to take a deep inhale of the
freshness in the air and keep it all
for me hoping to share some later
with the one whom i hold in winter;

the air is brisk as the sun seeks its
moment among the quick moving
clouds making it hard to decide if
a sweater is too much for the time;

but today fall has arrived and i shall
wait here for the day the air chants a
winters solace through the strands of
my sweater to see love walking by;
