yall got me bein brave here. This poem has never been read by anyone outside of one person. I have always been skeptical with this, how people would react. But since this is my new fam, i decided this week imma post all that i wasn't going to post b4.

    AFRO-UNITY

All of us with colored skin
We are all children of the sun....
    We are all alike...
    All of us.
    Whether we are
    Working at a big company,
    Hangin on a street corner,
Or sitting at home and writing like me.
We all have something in common
    Even if we try
    To run away
    From our identity
    We are still connected.
    And one day,
    We will be strong
    To confront our own past
    We will remember our purpose.
We will see through the eyes of our ancestors.
We will not hide from our own mistakes
But we will use theirs to fix ours
And we will find our way
Back into the depths of a unity that was once lost to us.

What I like most about this piece, and there was much, believe me, was that the points made were crystal clear. We are inherently the same, and when we realize that, we will bond in ways beyond belief. This was extraordinary poet of the week!!!!!

thank yall for taking the time out just to read this poem...it's ironic, cause i wrote this just before i came to Destee. I would never have thought there was such a community where I could relate and feel at ease. Then again, this whole site itself is a positive place, that shows that we can be unified.

    SCW
    keep the flow goin.
