*Having spent the first eleven years of my life in the land where the first African ancestors were brought in chains to the Americas [1500-01?] from the homes of the Woolofs & Mandikas as well as Yorubas. By way of Dahomey bringing along Bantus & Congolese, giving me the spicy mix of Mama Africa's fiercest seed, I pay tribute to the land which maintained our legacy alive outliving its Indigenous hosts & tormentors [Spainiards, French & English]:

AFRO-QUISQUELLA
[The land where I was born]

----
Born in a tropical

Caribbean island

shaded by the blue heavens

blessed with the impressionable

beauty of its people
--

Santo Domingo Quisquella or

Hispaniola, - a treasured paradise indeed

ever so lovely a land

blessed always by the

sun setting within
--

Merengue, Sancocho and rum

I'm blessed to be your Native Son

My heart beating fiercely

to the rhythm of the drum

even though Africa forever lives inside my soul.
