Black students face tougher discipline in Chicago and the U.S.

African American students receive disproportionately harsher discipline than non-minorities in schools nationwide — and especially in Chicago, U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan said Monday.

That means CPS’s African American students were five times as likely to be suspended as their white peers, relative to their presence in the overall student population. That’s the third-highest black-white suspension ratio among 20 big-city districts examined, a Chicago Sun-Times analysis of the federal data indicated.

I can dig it. I used to get suspended for not singing the Pledge of Allegiance in home room class. First, they only sent me to the principal's office. When they saw that wasn't working, they suspended me when i refused to even stand up. But i said that i was 'standing up' by 'sitting down'....:argue:

It wasn't until a black janitor gave me some wisdom that the matter finally got settled. He said they can't get mad at you if you stand and sing the pledge of allegiance, just put your own lyrics to it. After they heard my version, they agreed to give me a pass on the pledge and i had to stand but didn't have to sing it anymore. The only problem was that my fellow black students started doing what i was doing and soon only the white kids singing it by themselves.......lol

I too have great problems with the pledge of allegiance.

No one prior to 1892 ever pledged allegiance to a flag including the Framers.
In English Common Law, allegiance is given to the body natural of the king. Who is the "king" with regard to a flag?
How can children take a pledge of allegiance when they are unable to effect a valid contract?
The pledge of allegiance was created by a Christian socialist by the name of Francis Bellamy. I find it ironic that the people who bellow the loudest against socialism will be the first to recite a pledge authored by a socialist.

Also, you had a suit. The school can't make you recite a pledge against your will.

That might be part of the reason they finally gave in. They probably figured that sooner or later i or someone around me would have figured that out!

The crazy part was that my home room teacher wasn't even 'american'.

- Maybe it's the 'King' in regards to the Pledge..
