Black People : African American Spending Power $$$1.1 Trillion Dollars

I'm thinking what would the impact of withdrawing a portion of that revenue from the economy have?? What if we could organize a national moratorium on spending. Maybe target a specific season where it would have the most impact such as the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays...Pull our money out in order to let this country know just how relevant we are....
Feedback is welcomed....

And keep our money out of these casinos. I got my casino report last year and my in amount was $214,000 and my out was $190,000. I got the report ro deal with my reality that I was donating too much money to these casinos. They are surrounding us with casinos. I could have invested that money in something else.

without a will to cooperate those numbers are meaningless.. skin-color does not denote unity of purpose.. you may as well put some numbers up for tall people too.. Race does not equal community..
You're absolutely right. Race not not equal community. I suspect this "will to cooperate" is not going to materialize because we live in an integrated, even globalized society.

The belief that black people are one people is somwhat popular in America but is based on historical oppression and slavery. Hundreds of years ago blacks across the African Diaspora did not consider themselves one people and still don't. This is true for other groups as well. The notion that Native Americans, Latinos and Asians are one people is an American idea. They generally don't see themselves as one people until around the third or fourth generation, and then only loosely.

I contend that without the artificial coercion of slavery and later, segregation blacks in America are now free to act like what we've always been--a very diverse people spread over 3.8 million square miles. Race was always a very weak element of cohesion. It's unlikely we are going to pool our spending power.

Obama won with approximately 90% of the Black vote.

The Bus Boycott.

There are many Black owned businesses.

....all successful people who have created wealth have the following five qualities: 1. They own a few high quality businesses 2. They make sure they understand those businesses 3. They understand the long-term business plan 4. They use other people’s money to help build their business 5. They are in the business for the long-run - See more at: - blackenterprise.com/events/2015/05/15/michael-lee-chin-five-qualities-successful-

We can do this collectively!

Obama won with 90% of the vote? Yeah, Clinton got nearly that. So did Gore, Kerry, Dukakis, etc.

Yes we CAN do this collectively...but we're not going to. America is a huge, diverse country in which racial demarcations continue to mean less with each generation. When segregation existed we were restricted to frequenting black churches, stores, restaurants, hotels, funeral homes, colleges, and other businesses. Now all of that has changed. Half of the HBCU's have closed their doors and a significant number have had to openly recruit nonblack students in order to survive. I read an article a few years ago about the numerous black book stores that have gone out of business. People--including black people--shop wherever they choose, usually where their dollar stretches best.

The idea that we're going to pool our resources and create this powerful financial cartel is just a pipe dream. Time to wake up, folks. Oops, gotta go. I'm ordering some merchandise on Amazon.com...
